We may also collect personal information from third parties, such as service providers, contractors, or publicly available sources, where it is unreasonable or impractical to collect the information directly from you.

Personal information is collected by lawful and fair means, and, where reasonable and practicable, directly from you. We take reasonable steps to ensure you are aware of the purposes for which we collect your personal information at or before the time of collection, or as soon as practicable afterwards.

If you do not provide the personal information we request, we may not be able to provide you with our products or services, process your orders, verify your age, respond to your enquiries, or otherwise interact with you as required for our business operations.

Use

If you supply your personal information to us, we will store and use that information for purposes that are reasonably necessary for, or directly related to, our functions and activities, including to promote and sell our products and services and to fulfil our legal obligations. The purposes for which we may use your personal information include:

  • verifying your age and eligibility to purchase alcohol or other regulated products;

  • communicating with you regarding your orders, account, or in response to your customer service enquiries;

  • improving our products, services and Website, including through the use of analytics, research and feedback you provide;

  • tailoring our products, services and marketing communications to you, based on your transaction history, shopping preferences and other personal information you have provided;

  • responding to your questions and providing you with requested information;

  • interacting with you via social media and digital marketing channels; and

  • complying with our legal and regulatory obligations.

We will only use your personal information for the purpose for which it was collected, or for related purposes that you would reasonably expect, unless you have consented to another use or we are otherwise permitted or required by law to do so.

Disclosure

We may disclose your personal information for purposes that are reasonably necessary for, or directly related to, our functions and activities, in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles. The circumstances in which we may disclose your personal information include:

  • to facilitate the sale of our products and/or the provision of our services to you;

  • to our related companies and business partners, where this is necessary for our business operations or to provide you with products or services;

  • where we are required or authorised to do so by law, including to comply with legal and regulatory obligations, or in response to lawful requests by public authorities; or

  • for other purposes that are related to the primary purposes listed above, and which you would reasonably expect in connection with our functions and activities, or where you have otherwise consented.

We may also share information that was originally collected as personal information from you, but which has been de-identified or aggregated so that it can no longer be used to identify you personally.

Except as set out in this Privacy Policy, we do not sell, disclose or transfer personal information to any third parties.

Use or disclosure outside Australia

If we are likely to disclose your personal information to overseas recipients, we will specify the countries in which such recipients are likely to be located, where practicable, or otherwise indicate the general regions. In particular, your personal information may be disclosed to third party service providers and partners located in New Zealand. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that any overseas recipients handle your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Your personal information may be stored on digital cloud storage or web hosting servers provided by third party service providers. These providers may operate globally, and as such, your personal information may be stored in various countries outside Australia. Due to the nature of these services, it is not practicable for us to specify in advance the countries in which your personal information may be stored, as server locations may change without notice to us.

We will take reasonable steps to ensure that any overseas recipients, including those in New Zealand, handle your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles. We will not disclose your personal information to overseas recipients unless we have taken reasonable steps to ensure they comply with the Australian Privacy Principles, or unless you have provided your consent, or we are otherwise permitted or required by law.

Direct marketing communications

We may use your personal information to send you marketing and promotional communications about our products and services, including updates about new offerings, special promotions or other information we believe may be of interest to you.

We will only use or disclose your personal information for direct marketing purposes where permitted by the Australian Privacy Principles. This means we will only send you direct marketing communications if:

  • you have provided your consent; or

  • you would reasonably expect us to use your personal information for this purpose and you have not opted out of receiving such communications.

If you do not wish to receive direct marketing communications from us, you may opt out at any time. Each direct marketing communication we send you will include a simple means for you to opt out, such as an unsubscribe link in emails. You may also opt out by contacting us directly at lisa@betterbeer.com.au

We do not sell, disclose, or transfer your personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes unless you have provided your consent, or as otherwise permitted by law. If we engage third party service providers to send direct marketing communications on our behalf, we will ensure they comply with our privacy obligations.

We may give third party service providers access to certain personal information, such as your name, email address, profile picture, user ID, contact details, content you have viewed or liked and information about advertisements you have been shown or clicked on. Some of this information may be considered personal information under the Privacy Act.
